Francisco Mejia Lira Award

The Francisco Mejia Lira Award is given to a regular member of the Mexican Society of Science and Technology of Surfaces and Materials in recognition of his/her high level scientific trajectory in the areas of surface science or materials research. 

Requirements

  1. The candidate should be proposed by a regular member of the SMCTSM.
  2. The candidate should submit documentation to the Board of Directors of the SMCTSM (less than 10 pages long with 1.5 line spacing) in which she/he clearly and concisely describe she/he expertise in one, or more, of the areas of interest to the Society.Also, the document should include the appropriate information regarding the formation of students. The document should be in English. 
  3. A complete Curriculum Vitae (including information concerning the place of work or study of the candidate) and copies of the receipts for 2012 and 2013 SMCTSM membership payments should be provided.
  4. The winner will be announced during the General Assembly on September 27th, 2013. The winner must be present to receive his/her prize.

Best Masters or Ph. D. thesis Award (Sponsored by Intercovamex)

 

Participation is restricted to those student members of the SMCTSM whom graduated between the 1st August 2012 and the 30th July 2013.

Requirements

The documentation to participatein either of the two awardsmust include:

  1. Anapplication letter to the Board of Directors of the SMCTSM requesting their participation in this contest. This letter should include a brief description (less than 5 pages long with 1.5 line spacing) of the research reported in his/her thesis and must have the signed approval of the student’s tutor. The document could be in English or Spanish. 
  2. Cover of the thesis.
  3. Copies of any publications or expert opinions.
  4. Copy of the receipt of the applicant´s 2013 membership payment.
  5. Copy of the receipt of the tutor applicant´s 2013 membership payment.
  6. The winner will be announced during the General Assembly on September 27th, 2013. The winner or his/her tutor must be present to receive his/her prize.

Benefits

A Diploma and $7,000.00 pesos (Master Thesis) or $14,000 pesos (PhD Thesis)
