2011 Conference

Dear Colleagues and Students,

From its beginning the Mexican Society on Science and Technology of Surfaces and Materials (SMCTSM) has been an important forum used by the Mexican scientific community for discussion of scientific and technological topics related with research in the areas of surfaces and materials.

Important dates

1st September: reduced conference fees

The high academic level of those involved in our conferences promoted the transformation of our annual national meetings (the XXXI this year), into an international conference and the organization of this meeting will continue for the forthcoming years.

On this occasion we have the pleasure to inform you that the fourth edition of the International Conference on Surfaces, Materials and Vacuum will be held in the city of Puerto Vallarta located on the pacific Coast of Mexico, the 26th – 30th of September. This year, our Conference will be held together with the Specialist Meeting on Carbon (SMC-2011), a meeting devoted to all areas of carbon research but focused on an in-depth and detailed examination of the similarities and differences between the synthesis-property relationships of the different carbon types.

The scientific program of the Conference is divided into plenary conferences, short courses and the different symposia (see the list below) with oral and poster contributions related to the different areas of materials science and technology.

  • Biomaterials
  • Ab-initio Calculation and Supercomputing
  • Characterization and Metrology
  • Advanced and Multifunctional Ceramics
  • Renewable energy:
  • Solar Cells and Materials
  • Photothermal Phenomena
  • Microelectronics and MEMS
  • Nanostructures
  • Polymers
  • Thin Films
  • Semiconductors
  • Sol Gel
  • Plasma and Vacuum
  • Popularization of Science

We hope that the efforts of the organizing committee, sponsors and colleagues will result in an interesting friendly meeting, providing the opportunity for closer and new interactions between researchers coming from the diverse institutions.
